An oil stick drawing I made of my friend Grace. It was purchased by my university, and it’s hanging in our Women’s Resource Center.
I love drawing other women, especially my friends. Women so frequently get objectified in art–reduced to pretty bodies, numb subject matter as lifeless and superficial as a flower. I like to depict the women in my art as humans: multi-faceted, existing, vibrant, and something more than just a collection of pretty lines and curves.
